I never know who is going to stumble onto TYRANNOVISION, but I have set up this website presenting the entire "Year One" body of work of TYRANNOVISION, including the contributions of other users. I've numbered all the videos to aid in viewing the videos in order, and the narrative will take you all the way through Kristian Thomas' DOCTOR INTERACT crossover saga. As the next installments of DOCTOR INTERACT are completed, I will add them to the roster as well, giving you the complete experience. If you are new to the Tyrannovision series, you will be able to watch the development of the wild soap-opera-like intertwining storylines (Which were the result of an online LARP game). If the narrative gaps seem a little confusing, don't sweat it. We're primarily comedians here, so just focus on the jokes and you'll be just fine. As the episodes progress, the story becomes tighter and self-contained.
TYRANNOVISION, and its collaborative spinoffs with other users, is a celebration of imaginative viral video filmmaking. Each of us whom you see in these shows are people of extremely modest means. We work with small makeshift greenscreens, improvised lighting, and off-the-shelf software--some of it FREEware that anyone can download and use. As our talent pool develops, each of us becomes aware of one another's unique skills and we can farm out aspects of our productions, as well as casting, to our fellow users. It's not perfect (YET!) but its imperfection is part of its unique charm as the more elaborate videos become stylistic collage of different aesthetics and techniques. The diversity becomes its own cohesive vision and works surprisingly well in a sci-fi/fantasy series fueled by its own obvious silliness, resulting in a rich visual texture of dazzling 3D CGI animation, thrifty 2D animation, puppets, greenscreen, bluescreen, photoshop, and anything else we can throw in there to make the narrative work. It is a celebration of all these things that ultimately says, "YOU can do this, too!" Your only limits are your own creativity.
Here in this section of the website, I am amassing a "TYRANNOPEDIA", a sort of "TYRANNOVISION Wikipedia" of neatly organized articles breaking the show down into its component aspects, including things you haven't seen yet. There are several entries already, listing the cast of characters and their bios.
TYRANNOVISION is currently on hiatus right now, but is also in pre-production for the first TWO --Count 'em: TWO!--self-contained Tyrannovision MOVIES: "EMPIRE HIGHWAY". and "KLASH OF THE TYRANTS". Among some of the preparations are new large greenscreens for bigger action! Yes you will see FEET in Tyrannovision!
If you're a really big fan of TYRANNOVISION, MindWipe Studios has created a complete FREE downloadable DVD package that you can burn on your home computer and enjoy on your TV and share with your friends. This DVD only has the Tyrannovision material without the KrisInteract episodes (Upon Completion of "Trial of Dr. Interact" we're planning to launch a similar DVD package for that as well! I sure as hell want one!).
In this Episode with an Interview with Baron Dixon (July 11th, 2008):
* Baron talks about how Tyrannovision began
* A Behind The Scenes look into how it all works
* A look into upcoming Trial Of Doctor Interact and Empire Highway
* Baron's take on latest Star Trek stuff from the new movie to fan-made shows
* Plus, Mindwipe pays a visit
