Listen to a 15-minute sample from our first Episode of the TYRANNOPOD!------->
It gets a litle raunchy here & there, so listener discretion is advised.
The TYRANNO-POD Episode 1: The Tyrannovision Tyrant finds himself cornered by his showbiz agent, Morty Bergsteinowitz, into hosting a radio podcast. He begrudgingly accepts the gig, but while he has the help of his Minions and Dr. Klindowiener, the Tyrant has difficulty muddling through hosting a "morning-zoo" drive-time radio show. Scroll down to listen to our "Sponsors'" commercial jingles!
I have taken many opportunities across this site, and in the shows themeslves, to showcase the brilliant work of my songwriting partner, Nicholas Baker of NAB Productions. The smooth, beautiful vocal harmonies in the various bumpers and jingles are all Nick multitracking himself.
Nick and I both love TV theme songs, network/station ID's and commercial jingles. As Nick entered his professional music career, he expressed an interest in composing jingles for me as a way to build up a demo reel. Since TYRANNOVISION is riddled with parody commercials, this was fertile ground upon which to turn Nick loose, especially since he has a well-tuned sense of the Retro style of what I want for the jingles. Most of the time, I write the lyrics, and some of the time I compose the music. But sometimes I have Nick compose to my lyrics. Nick handles the arrangements and most of the performance, but I will occasionally perform vocals as well.
I cannot say enough about Nick. Besides his inborn musical gifts, he's one of the most positive, enthsiastic people I've ever met. As a lyricist himself his lyrics to his own original songs are sincere and direct. As a singer his voice is clear and on-pitch, creating smooth harmonies when he multitracks himself. For those who would hire his services, his turnaround time is almost instantaneous, allowing time for tweaks before final delivery deadline. He works in many musical styles and his knowledge of music is encyclopedic.
Our collaborations are always an excuse for us to play, and they make for one of the more jouyful aspects of creating the TYRANNOVISION universe.
LUNGSTON
...and LOOK
like a MAN!
This is a vocalized dummy track of the "Lucky Lungston" jingle, which I sent to Nick Baker along with guidelines for orchestration. Yuo can hear the fully orchestrated version toward the beginning of the TYRANNOPOD.
In the case of the "Red Badge" jingle, we divided up the songwriting duties in the traditional way: Music by Nick, and Lyrics by Dix.
The Tyrant and Dr. Klindowiener field-test a Digital Voice Recorder and external microphone clamped inside a moving car in this improvised bit. "A Night In Tunisia" performed by Phill "Mindwipe" Morris.
